What types of socks are there actually?

Sometimes you get the impression that there are almost as many types of socks as there is sand on the beach.

Crew socks, tennis socks, sneaker socks, sports socks, running socks, business socks, and many more.

Let's shed some light on this and classify the different sock types, so you can decide which sock type is the right one for you.

Generally materials, use and length are the most important factors here.

Leisure

Crew socks or tennis socks

Our favorites: Crew socks. Are also known as tennis socks. Crew socks or tennis socks are in most cases combined with sneakers. Here we have jumped on it with our first collection - and how!

The majority of the socks in our line up are so-called jacquard socks (made of organic cotton). Since these are knitted, the designs have to be rather kept simple.

Our printed socks, on the other hand, are either sublimated front and back using a high-temperature process (like our BALI VIBES socks) or seamlessly printed in a 360-degree process (like our JUNGLE DRUM design).

No matter if knitted or printed you will find cool crew socks (or tennis socks if you prefer) for your sneakers. In summer we like to wear our crew socks with shorts.

Summer outfit: Crew socks and shorts

In winter with jeans or cloth pants. So that they also duly come to the fore, the trouser legs are of course rolled up (or pinrolled). What pinrolling is and how it works, you can read here.

All year around: Cuffed or pinrolled denims and crew socks

Sneaker socks and ankle socks

These are short socks that you can not see in the shoe at all (sneaker socks) or just barely (ankle socks).

In the leisure sector, the main component of the socks is cotton. Of course, it is important that the socks do not slip. Therefore, you should definitely pay attention to the anti-slip strip on the heel when buying. So the socks always stay on your feet.

Sneaker socks and ankle socks are worn more in the summer. Both with shorts and with long pants. With long pants you best roll up the trouser legs. A great move to bring your shoes to the center of attention and to determine the length of your pants yourself. If you want to know more and learn how to pinroll click here.

Business

Business socks

In everyday office life, the right business socks must not be missing, whether with bright colors, crazy patterns or classic dark and discreet or knee high over the calf.

Business socks are usually made of a cotton-polyamide mix. For the cold winter months, you can also find models with a wool content (usually virgin wool) that keep feet warm even at lower temperatures.

Business socks come in different lengths - from knee high over the calf to medium high or half-calf. Combined with a suit, chinos or jeans, they are usually worn with leather shoes. Since sneakers are also becoming more and more popular in the office, combinations of business socks, sneakers (preferably classic white as white sneakers will never fail you) and jeans are becoming more and more common.

Sneaker socks in the office? Absolutely!

These are short socks that you do not see in the shoe.

That they consist in the main component of cotton and how important an anti-slip strip at the heel is we had already clarified above (in the leisure section).

But can you wear them in the office at all? You can, especially in summer with sneakers and jeans or leather shoes with a suit. Both outfits fit perfectly in the office and are also much more comfortable to wear in warm temperatures.

Sports

Performance socks aka sports socks

Whether for running, cycling or skiing performance socks or sports socks come in a variety of shapes and colors.

However, they have one thing in common, they are designed for functionality. Made of microfiber, they are particularly breathable and heat-regulating. This reduces perspiration, ensures a dry foot and prevents odor. Their good fit (be careful when choosing the size) prevents slipping and blisters. When buying, pay particular attention to the right size. Performance socks or sports socks should fit tightly like a second skin or constrict at the calf.

We recommend either classic white or an eye-catching pair in a neon color. In both cases a statement and great upgrade to your sports outfit.
